ECO-MARMO is a newly released innovative re-composed stone material, exclusive to Stone Italiana and produced by re-cycling tailings (waste material) from marble and limestone quarry sites.The re-cycled tailings are then finely crushed and subjected to Stone Italiana's unique manufacturing process, which by utilising a combination of vacuum-vibro-compaction and catalytic conversion, creates a homogeneous, non-porous, marble-based material having enormous flexural strength characteristics.

The end result is the production of an eco-friendly material which has utilized waste product normally lost forever from centuries-old quarrying techniques, and converting it into a beautiful, useable, new millennium marble-based material.

Initially produced in slab form, the ECO-MARMO is then polished and calibrated into a total of seven tile sizes, beginning at 300mm x 300mm through to 1200mm x 1200mm, all of which are just 10mm in thickness. Sizing is achieved through Stone Italiana's computer-aided calibration process ensuring a dimensional accuracy on length, breadth and diagonals all held within 0.5mm tolerance - unheard of in the tile industry!

ECO-MARMO tiles can be produced in a variety of plain, warm neutral colour tones, and can even have the inclusion of "veins" simulating the appearance of natural marble if required. The obvious advantages over marble and limestone materials are as follows:

Non-absorbency - less than 0.05 percent.
Greater flexural strength - approximately 24 Mpa.
Colour uniformity - never achievable with natural stone.
Easy to maintain - can be polished and restored when subjected to high traffic wear unlike ceramic or granite.
Dimensional perfection - such accuracy in calibration ensures minimal gapping when being laid, hence the optimum of elegance in appearance.
Slip Resistance R9 rated - conforming to Australian Standards AS/NZS 4856.
Ideal for Residential and Commercial application and for over-cladding existing floor tiling systems.

They are available in a standard slab size of 1250mmx1250mmx10mm nominal dimension, and are available in the entire colour range in 7 tile sizes as indicated in our Technology section.
